Perhaps
we should be careful when it comes to lumping on Argentina to win
this final Group B match in Polokwane. Diego Maradona's team are now
the favourites to win the World Cup, although we should note that a)
they have only beaten Nigeria and South Korea thus far and b) we
might see many star names rested for this game. Not that Diego Milito
and Sergio Aguero are bad replacements for Lionel Messi and Gonzalo
Higuain, the latter of which made up for missed errors in the first
match with a hat-trick against the Koreans.
Greece
have shown a Jekyll and Hyde character in their two matches to date
and we should remember that Otto Rehhagel's team were facing a
Nigeria team reduced to ten men for a big chunk of the match. Playing
for the draw might be an initial option, although Argentina will be
out to showboat and treat their fans to another entertaining
performance. Whether the Greeks form part of this potential goalfest
is open to question.
