It’s possible that Denmark could have achieved a goalless draw with Holland if Simon Poulsen hadn’t headed the ball into Daniel Agger at the start of the second half. The own goal undid all the good work that had been achieved in the first half, although Morten Olsen will be encouraged by how much his team limited the Netherlands on Monday.
The manager will hope to have Daniel Jensen and Jon Dahl Tomasson available as attacking options, with injuries to the pair forcing a half-fit Nicklas Bendtner into the mix. The Arsenal forward had one good chance to score and will look to make it count against a Cameroon team who looked uninspired in their first match.
The Indomitable Lions looked tense and nervous as they lost 1-0 to Japan and Paul Le Guen must be hugely annoyed that the hard work and preparation resulted in such a poor performance. Although Alex Song will come into the team, the experienced Christian Poulsen will help ensure that Denmark don’t lose this game at the very least.
