The pre-tournament favourites for the 2010 World Cup finally get the chance to prove their worth on Wednesday and the crowd at the Moses Mabhida Stadium should be treated to a rich brand of attacking football. Anyone who questioned Spain's credentials only had to witness their recent 6-0 demolition of Poland to see that Vicente Del Bosque's team will take some stopping in South Africa.
While Fernando Torres is a quality striker, it's his team-mate David Villa who has by far the superior goalscoring record for Spain. 37 goals in 57 games is mightily impressive and the striker has just secured a '34 million move to Barcelona as he enters the peak of his career. He was the Golden Boot winner during Euro 2008 and could be too hot for the Swiss defence to handle.
Ottmar Hitzfeld's team will instead look to games against Chile and Honduras to make further progress at the World Cup and even a defensive approach (featuring a 4-5-1 formation which includes Alexander Frei in attack) shouldn't stop Villa and Co.
